JUST NOW $10 Million Available $400/ $300 Unemployment Benefits Unemployment Extension Stimulus PUA FPUC

Here’s your unemployment update for Sunday, February 28th, 2021

Nevada’s state treasurer reports there is $10 million in unclaimed unemployment money and the state would like to get that money to the rightful owners.

Treasurer Zach Conine posted on social media the money belongs to individuals who filed for Nevada unemployment insurance but haven’t claimed it.

He also said, “already more than $734,000 has been returned.”

The state also has more than $950 million in other unclaimed property that isn’t related to unemployment benefits.

Up next, there’s now a $322 million fund to help Wisconsin residents who are experiencing income loss and need help with their rent.

Governor Tony Evers has recently announced the “Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program which provides direct financial assistance for rent, utility, home energy costs, and wraparound services for individuals who qualify.”

Those approved may receive up to 12 months of assistance.

Governor Evers stated, “I’m proud of the efforts we’ve made through the Wisconsin Rental Assistance Program to get folks the help they need so they don’t have to worry about losing the roofs over their heads.”

And finally, Republican lawmakers in Kansas advanced a new proposal to put $450 million relief funds into the state’s unemployment program to help cover losses from fraudulent claims.

GOP members of the House commerce committee included the measure in a bill aimed at overhauling the unemployment system and an upgrade of computers at the State’s Department of Labor.

The committee approved the bill on a voice vote, sending it to the full House for debate, possibly as early as next week.

Republicans in the GOP-controlled Legislature have been increasingly critical of Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly over the department’s problems.

The department estimates that the state paid $290 million in fraudulent unemployment claims last year.

This is definitely a step in the right direction so that the state can crackdown on fraud.
