Hi guys,
Real estate in #Ibadan is the next thing. The land mass of the…
It just came to my attention that many people don’t know about the eviction moratorium and how it protects them; both on the tenant and landlord side. So I made this video to help spread awareness about programs available, and how to protect yourself against an unlawful eviction during these COVID times.
There was initially an eviction ban that went from March 2020 to June 2020. That was later extended by the CDC in September 2020 until January 31, 2021. This January 31st eviction ban was extended until March 31, 2021.
Initially up until June 2020, everyone automatically fell under this eviction moratorium. However, since September, it has been a requirement that you “opt in” into this protection. You will find the form linked below.
This seems like it’s unfair to landlords, however, there are state programs for landlords as well. These generally get exhausted before the funds for tenants, however, if you’re a landlord, simply help your tenant apply for that program so you can get your rent money!
I will update at a later time to see if the eviction moratorium extension goes further than Marc 31, 2021 with the new stimulus plan going into law probably this week.
Remember to be kind and work together so that both parties can benefit! The opportunities are there.
